Its only a matter of time before there is a 12 step program for all the people who are silently going broke, falling deep into debt in their quest for internet financial freedom. The first step is to acknowledge that you have a problem. We did this. We admit it...we fell for the lies...They were lies that we were desperate to believe.

We are both intelligent women, but we fell for the hype and lies: hook, line and sinker. (We still find it mind boggling how so many people can make claims in ways that seem to exude sincerity-but which are exaggerations at best and outright scandalous lies at worst). And it was keeping us broke.

We are two moms who met at an internet marketing/direct sales wealth conference a little over a year ago. We each arrived there feeling like we were the only people online (and certainly in that business) who weren't making gobs of money. At that conference we learned that we were not alone...that despite all the hype, despite what "leaders" were saying on conference calls, many people...not just us, were in fact struggling.

We started talking and shared the frustration we were both experiencing trying to make the great money that it seemed everyone else was making online with ease.

We had both got started in the direct sales industry with super successful "mentors" (there's a reason that word is in quotes-sarcasm is intended) who promised to teach us everything they were doing to make the 5-6 figure monthly incomes they were making.

We were both 40 somethings, and we told our prospective "mentors" we were clueless about internet marketing and direct sales and we did not grow up with computers. They told us not to worry...it was pretty simple and they would teach us exactly what to do. Their success made their time valuable, and the personal mentoring we were promised by virtue of joining with them was more than worth the price of admission. That was before we paid the $9,000 it cost to get started in the business. Once we paid, instead of the personal mentoring we were promised, we were referred to courses we could take to learn how to market online.

Now, don't get us wrong....we are huge believers in investing in educating yourself....BUT what we got was not at all what we were promised. When we reached out for occasional support from our "mentors", our phone calls were not returned....and at that conference where we met, we found that we were not alone.

We were determined. If these twenty somethings could figure this out and make 5-6 figures a month, then so could we.

The one thing we knew that was true was that it would be easier to have success if we had other people to collaborate with.

We became friends and then partners and together we worked to figure out how to make money online not just in the direct sales industry where we met, but through other methods as well. We are huge fans of the large commissions available through direct sales. If you can get the start up capital required to start and advertise a direct sales business, we definitely recommend that you have one or more direct sales businesses as part of your multiple streams of income portfolio.

One of our frustrations in direct sales was that so many people we were coming in contact with simply did not have the start up capital that was required to be successful in direct sales.

We came online looking for a way to make money and chose direct sales because we would be making money helping other people make money. That was the attraction to the industry.
